The manga was so popular in Japan (its volumes were very often in the list of the top 20 of the weekly best-selling manga) that the studio A-1 Pictures ( Fairy Tail, Sword Art Online, The Seven Deadly Sins ) made two anime television adaptations called “ Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic ”, that was broadcast from October 2012 to March 2013, and the sequel “ Magi: The Kingdom of Magic ”, that was broadcast from October 2013 to March 2014. In 2014, the series won the 59th Shogakukan Manga Awa rd for the shōnen category. The 369 chapters of the Magi manga were collected and published in 37 volumes and licensed for English release in North America by Viz Media. It’s adapted from the similar manga series written and illustrated by Ohtaka Shinobu (also the author of the ongoing series Orient ), that was serialized starting from June 2009 to October 2017 by Shogakukan in the Weekly Shōnen Sunday, a famous shōnen manga magazine that hosts popular series such as Detective Conan and its spin-offs. The anime’s name is “ Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic” ( マギ ).
